LONDON COMMUNITY BAROQUE ORCHESTRA (LCBO)

Now in its third term, London Community Baroque Orchestra has quickly emerged as one of London’s leading music education initiatives. Founded and directed by Dr Žak Ozmo as a partnership between L’Avventura London and the Foundling Museum (Bloomsbury, London), the orchestra provides training in historical performance practice to its members (including regular rehearsals, coaching, workshops, and lectures on various relevant topics) and presents high-level musical performances.

LCBO offers a fun and educational environment in which participants can explore Baroque music along with other interested musicians, and work on musical repertoire consisting of both much-loved masterpieces and new discoveries (including those contained in the Foundling's one-of-a-kind Gerald Coke Handel Collection).

The orchestra is coached and musically supported by members of period-instrument ensemble L’Avventura London, in addition to other prominent guest artists. LCBO membership is open to amateur adult musicians Grade 5 and above, students, and young professionals pending an audition. Rehearsals are held on Saturdays, in the Picture Gallery, 10.30am-1.30 pm. ‘Modern’ instruments are welcome, and we tune to Baroque pitch A= 415.
